Jennifer’s training as a PT and OMP has prepared her to treat:

Training in Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Health

Jennifer has advanced physiotherapy training for many pelvic health conditions. She has specific training to support women during prenatal care, labour, delivery, and postnatal care which can be done via Telehealth. She has extensive training with Pelvic Health Solutions (PHS) in restoring pelvic health through physiotherapy.

Specifically, Jennifer has completed: Pelvic Health Solutions’ (PHS) Pregnancy and Pelvic Girdle Pain course and Prenatal, Labour and Delivery: Maternal support through comfort measures and Pelvic Biomechanics course. These courses taught internal and external manual therapy techniques to help prepare the patient for labour and delivery, and to help restore the pelvic floor after childbirth. They also taught evidence-based exercises, labour positioning, and modalities for C-section scars.

Jennifer Williamson PT & OMP

As a Physiotherapist, Osteopath (OMP), and owner of Personal Care Physio, Jennifer Williamson’s primary goal is to optimize patient care through a dynamic integrative team approach while continuing to advance evidenced-based education as a practitioner and in her wellness clinic. She believes in treating the cause, not the symptom, and her expansive background allows her to treat her patients as a whole person.

Physiotherapy Training

Jennifer graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physiotherapy from Dalhousie University but began working in physiotherapy in 1992. In 1995 she returned to Dalhouse to complete a masters degree in science specializing in neurology, all while working at the Saint Mary’s Sports Medicine clinic. Her masters degree focused on gait (walking) analysis and neurological conditions (e.g. stroke).

Osteopathy Training

Jennifer began studying osteopathy in 1998 and graduated from Collège d’Etudes Ostéopathiques with an osteopathic degree in 2018. She has done post education training in pediatrics and pelvic health therapy as a manual osteopath and as a physiotherapist she has done further post education training in pelvic health. Jennifer has also completed the Canadian Osteopathic Manual Therapy program (CEO).

Since completing her Physiotherapy and Osteopathic Manual Therapy degree, Jennifer has completed extensive course work in:

  • Manual physiotherapy (PT)
  • Manual osteopathy (OMP)
  • Cranial sacral therapy (OMP)
  • Visceral manipulation (OMP)
  • Lymphatic drainage (OMP & OMP)
  • Soft tissue mobilization (PT / OMP)
  • Acupuncture & FDN (PT)

Special Interests (PT designates she does this as a physiotherapists and OMP designates that she does this as an osteopath)

As a PT and OMP, Jennifer loves to treat all ages from the elderly to infants. Some of Jennifer’s special interests include:

  • Spinal alignment and posture (PT & OMP)
  • Orthopedic and sport injuries (PT & OMP)
  • Arthritis (PT & OMP)
  • Gait analysis (PT)
  • Women’s health, such as: pelvic floor dysfunction; diastasis recti; endometriosis; incontinence; pre-natal care; support for labour and delivery; and post-natal care. (PT and OMP)
  • Newborns, infants, and toddlers with conditions such as: colic; consitpation; sleep disturbance. (OMP)
  • Lymphedema (OMP and PT)
  • Digestive track issues (OMP)
  • Concussions, whiplash, migraines, TMJ pain (PT and OMP)

Jennifer’s clinic includes extensive patient education. Jennifer and her clinic’s therapists work hard to offer a warm healing environment conducive to promoting total health and wellbeing.
